Red, White, and Blue Firecracker

Sorry I am a little slow at getting up my Patriotic project.  And the sad part is I made this project a while before I ever started blogging and had the pictures taken months ago.  I have just had so much fun sharing all the wedding stuff with you I forgot to share this with you sooner.

This was pretty easy to make.  I made 3 cuts from a 2x4.
1 -  14"
1 - 12"
1 - 9"
I painted them red, white, and blue.
Then I drilled holes in the top of each 2x4. I drilled the hole probably like 1 inch deep.  Then I cut three pieces of white yarn about 4 inches long. I wanted them to be stiff so I got out some Mod Podge I dipped them in it, then used my fingers to make them nice and straight.  When they dried they were stiff.  Then I can't I remember but I think I just shoved them down in the hole but I might have put a little more Mod Podge on to glue them in.

I put them all together with wood glue.  But if I were to do it again I think I would screw them together.

I drilled a hole in the middle of my star, which I got from the craft store. Then I just wrapped some wire around, put it through the hole in the star, and wrapped the ends around a pencil to make them curled.
Pretty easy!

Never miss a new post!

  2. Great blog. I saw this post on another link up and thought I needed to check it out. I always end up having tons of left over wood from deck or fence jobs I do. I need to put them to better use. New fan. Great Job 2 Crafty!!
