I made this with a 1x6 and a 1x4. To start out I lightly traced where the 1x4 would sit, so I knew where to draw my brands. I looked online for ideas for brands and then drew them on. My husband burned them in with the wood burner for me.
I sanded down the edges and corners.
And then I stained it with Minwax Wood Stain, Early American.
I painted the 1x4 with antique white I had left over from my Apothecary Console. Then I sanded down the edges, and stained the whole board.
I attached the star hooks with 1 1/4in screws, so they also held the two boards together. The screws I had were silver and I knew that would clash with the star hooks so I stuck them in the ground and spray painted them. It wasn't an exact match, but it was a lot closer.
I really like how it turned out!

Fun! Great idea for some leftover wood I have sitting around :)
