Menu Board

I am sure like me you have seen lots of menu boards out there.  I created this one.

I didn't like the ones that were just one week, because I only shop every two weeks usually.  And I didn't like the ones that were monthly, because I thought if I planned that far in advance I won't stick to it by the end of the month.  So I created this board where I can plan out two weeks worth of meals.  Or you could also do a main dish on one side, and side dish on the other and just plan one week.

I started out by cutting 1/4 MDF to 1' x 2'.
Then I laid everything out on it to see how it fit.

I cut it at 1' x 2' because then it perfectly fit two pieces of scrapbook paper.

I wanted to put them on one at a time so i just took a pencil and drew a line across the middle then brushed mod podge on to the line.

Then I used a pizza roller to get the paper nice and flat, and my son wanted to help :)

I wanted my clothes pins to look rustic to match my board so I stained them.  I started out by taking them apart, but after the first or second I decided I could stain them just fine without messing around with taking them apart. I used Minwax Wood Stain, Early American .

I was going to use an old dressing packet box or something like that to keep my menu items in, but I didn't have one the right size.  Then I found this in my craft cabinet.

I just dumped the snow flakes into a zip lock and cut of the Christmas stuff so it was just a clear bag. Then I glued it to my board.

I couldn't find a notepad that was horizontal.  I just made my own in Microsoft word.  I wanted a notepad that I could take off of the menu board.  I just used a binder clip then put a screw in the board for it to hang on.

I always want to know what other people have for their Menu Items.  Here are a few of mine:
Beef Tacos

Out to Eat
Order Pizza
Left Overs
And Many More

  1. What a cute idea! My husband and I always talk about how we need to start planning our meals. It would make grocery shopping so much easier. Maybe this project will get my meal plan rolling! :-)

Hope you'll share this on my link party!
